The ability to control electron flow is usually applied to information handling or device control. Electronics is distinct from electrical science and technology, which deals with the generation, distribution, control and application of electrical power. This distinction started around 1906 with the invention by Lee De Forest of the triode, which made electrical amplification possible with a non-mechanical device. Until 1950 this field was called "radio technology" because its principal application was the design and theory of radio transmitters, receivers and vacuum tubes. Most electronic devices today use semiconductor components to perform electron control. The study of semiconductor devices and related technology is considered a branch of physics, whereas the design and construction of electronic circuits to solve practical problems come under electronics engineering. This article focuses on engineering aspects of electronics. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What component of electronics is produced by slave labor? Q. I learned a few years ago in an Ethics and Social Responsibility class that most electronics, computers and mobile phones have a component that is made using slave labor. I'm not sure whether it's an element that is mined or something else. But I'm sure that such a thing exists and that slave labor is a part of the production line in electronics (it was recently on the news too). Anybody know what that component/ element is? I don't know, but if this story is true (which I doubt), it's probably some common metal which is mined for use in electronics. Maybe iron, copper, or gold. Answered by Rocket J Squirrel - Thu Jul 2 20:49:32 2009 What college path do I take to become an electronics engineer? Q. I'll be attending Ohio State next year and they have electrical engineering and computer engineering, but they don't have electronics engineering. From my research on electronics engineering it's a mix of computer and electrical, but what would be a good major and minor so as to land a job as an electronics engineer after graduating? Asked by tmk8807 - Wed Mar 21 21:33:29 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Electrical engineering. Computer engineering is more centered towards the building and design of computers and computer systems. Electronics engineering is more like a subset of electrical engineering which is more broad. You'll still learn what you want to know about electronics. Electrical devices are things like resistors, capacitors, and inductors. Electronic devices are associated with things that are made with semi conductive material like diodes, transistors, and integrated circuits. Most electrical circuits are electronic circuits. The AC/DC converter that you use to recharge your cell phone is a simple electronic circuit. Your digital alarm clock,cd player, cell phone, stereo, and computer are all electronic circuits. So your major… [cont.] Answered by dylan k - Thu Mar 22 17:16:52 2007 What can an Electronics Technician cross train to a different kind of occupation that has a brighter future?
Q. I am getting very fed up as a long time Electronics Technician that can never find a good high paying job, so now I want to know what other areas can I cross train too. There is no respect for electronic repair techs anymore. Sucks! Thanks. Asked by MyBestFriend - Wed Jul 15 16:19:41 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You could go back to school and a bachlor of science degree. Any formal degree will give you more respect and open doors. You could get your BS is Engineering. Remember Electrical Engineers start at 50,000 and can go a lot higher in design work.
